The Facts

Our criminal justice system is failing victims of rape and other sexual assaults. There is a blatant inability to hold to account those who commit these very serious crimes. If any six women gather together then, statistically, one of them will have survived rape. Yet it would require a meeting of 62 rapists, 10 times as many, to find one who had been convicted of this very serious crime. The reality is even worse for other types of sexual abuse, including that of male, under-age, or LGBTQ+ victims.

This is the current imbalance between victim and rapist.

Our Aim

To bring more sexual abusers to justice, we must make it easier and safer to report an attack. Many victims stay silent through misplaced shame, fear of the consequences, or of not being believed. Nearly four times as many offences are committed (according to British Crime Survey data) than the numbers of attacks reported to the police. Many, if not most of these attacks are committed by abusers who go on to assault a number of victims.

To increase conviction rates the police need more help to investigate reported offences effectively so they can present more convincing evidence to help the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) to prosecute.

We are developing an encrypted database which will allow victims to self-report, in confidence and independently from the police. This will overcome the extreme reluctance which many feel about going to the police. Our aim will be to identify possible clusters of multiple victims with the same potential abuser, which will then be passed to the police so they can contact victims.

We-Together

Our system will be open to all victims of sexual assault regardless of gender or sexuality. It will also be open to all, no matter how long ago the assault was committed. Justice can be achieved for historic assault.

We understand that entering details of an assault is a major step for many victims. We also understand the reticence of many victims to provide contact information. Anyone entering their information can be assured of two things:

1. No-one outside of the police and the specially trained report assessors will have access to any personal information.

2. Details will only be passed to the police if you are identified as being one of a number of potential victims.
